Default Shifter light

Has anyone replaced the light under the gearshift? Easy? Annoying? I drive a lot at night and that light went out.

I am assuming you have an automatic, and are talking about the gear selector light to let you know what gear your in. I would say it should be as easy has taking the center consul apart and finding the bulb swap that sucker out and put back together.

+1......if you haven't taken those shifter knobs off before, they can be a bit of a bugger the first time. IIRC, it's a really firm twist while pulling up....and that TC shift probably needs to be in 4H or N to get it off. Mine has been off a couple times and now the knob has a little wobble to it when i grab it....kinda annoying. I need to fix that light too. I think I actually dislocated it when I installed seat heaters few years back and tapped in to the 12v plug in the dash for my power.

Getting the knob off is a bit ridiculous. I saw one video that makes it seem like if you pry off the bottom it comes off easier. Has anyone tried that?

I think I took that off the first time when I was trying to figure out how it came off....if I recall, that bottom piece is really just superficial. I don't think it's any easier if you pry that off. Mine was a real bitch to get off the first time. I twisted and pulled and the thing didn't budge. I ended up using a strap oil filter wrench to turn that knob from side to side and then was able to pull it off.....course now it's a little loose which aggravates me.
