Why do the arctic and rubicon wranglers have red shocks? Anyone know if these are high performance or special?

They came on my Sahara. Nothing special just a heavy duty shock.

The red shocks are the shocks that come on the Rubicon. Much better quality than the black sport shocks.

I think that the red rubi shocks and the black sahara shocks are the same, and the black x shocks are supposedly different.

For a factory shock, the red ones are actually a pretty good piece. The ride and handling is noticeably better than the black ones. Off the vehicle they seem to be a higher pressure, and on the vehicle the valving feels more "controlled".
Most of the guys here actually prefer them to a lot of the aftermarket shocks.

Not on my Sahara at least. I have a 2011 4dr. with heavy duty susp., tow package, and i replaced the stock black ones, with red Rubi ones, and there is a very noticeable difference. Much better! Worth the switch!

Good to know. I don't remember where I heard the other comment, but I'm glad it made a difference for you!

I switched to Red Rubicon take offs on my '08. It was a much better ride. Especially for all those curbs around campus, my gf stopped complaining as much and started noticing less bumps in the road.
