Should exhaust pipe look like this?

Should exhaust pipe look like this?
Can anyone tell me if this section of the exhaust pipe is supposed to be dented? Not the best pic, so i circled the area. It's directly above the axle like I either hit it or it's designed that way, but I can't see how I could get the axle that high to dent it or for them to warrant making the indentation.
. Not sure why 
???

That had to be a sight. Someone probably thought you placing a bomb or something
. I can see it now, someone saw you, waited for the owner and told them they probably should not start it.

Mine doesn't look like that any more...
After a couple of hours, a broken tailpipe expander, a second trip to the auto parts store and a lot of
, this is what mine looks like now.As for performance, I really can't feel or hear any difference but I assume it made a difference
. (I know ass u me 
) But after all that hard work, I refuse to believe it did not make a difference.
