Default Should I keep this plastic bag?

There was an empty, opened plastic bag in the center console of my new Jeep when I bought it. Here's a picture. Are these numbers the key codes? Is it important to save the bag?

I doubt it's important enough to keep. Any info you need should be tied to your VIN.

You could photocopy it for your records and recycle the bag.

Or, if you have a locking lug-nut key, use the bag to hold that in with your jack.

It appears to have a key or something similar inside. Did you put it there?

A quick call to your dealer should explain it.

Otherwise, the idea of photocopying or scanning is a good one. Just in case.

It may be the elastic and Velcro straps that come with the Jeeps.

I put the spare key in there. The soft top straps were in the glove compartment and not in the bag. I have an idea those are the key codes but I'm not sure.

(I know you were just kidding...)

but that's the beauty of the transponder keys. Even with a cut/copy of the key, no programming equals no starting.

Just remember (everyone): buy a transponder blank or two then cut and program them for spares.

You can get cheap, non-power (no circuit-board or buttons) blanks for $10-$15.

Ask your dealer what a new key w/ programming will cost you if you lose one of your original pair.....
