Default Side window air deflectors?

Has anyone installed the window air deflectors?

How do they attach?

They might be useful during the heat of summer
in Florida. Then I can crack the windows to vent
the 150 degree interior heat, while still protected from
the daily 4 pm rain showers.

You mean ventvisors?

There are two types, one kind applies with 3M tape on the paint, and the other slips into the window channel. Having used both kinds, the channel ones stay on much longer.

I have only ever had the ones that attach with 3M tape. They stay on really well. I have never had them come off. I would caution the use on the kind that slips into you window channel if you have power windows. The extra drag is very bad for the motor and will cause it to wear out quicker.

derff96963,

I don't understand what you mean by "extra drag". I have had the deflectors that fit in the window channels (on other vehicles) and they worked fine. Am I missing something here??

I have the Mopar ones on mine. They work perfectly for exactly what you are saying, vent the thing when parked, keep out the rain etc.

They mount with 3M trim tape, i have had these on the last 3 cars/trucks i have owned, and now the Jeep. I have never lost one by having it fall off/tape failure. Just make sure you clean the mounting area very well and get it lined up right the first time, the tape doesnt offer much in the way of second chances when installing.

I DID however loose one of the ones that snaps into the window channel, it flew off on the thruway at 65+. I saw it hit the pavement and get squarched by a vehicle following me, there was no use in going back for it.

Thanks Curmudge,

So taking them on and off seasonally might be a problem
I guess.

Its quite simple. There is just enough room in the channel for the window. "ANYTHING" you put in the channel will make it smaller and TIGHTER. Hench more drag on the window. It doesn't take much over a period of time to prematurely wear out your window assembly.

Just curious where you're getting your data from? It's not like you've installed something that is causing friction all the way up and down, just for the last 1/2" or so. I seriously doubt it will shorten the life of the power windows.
