I never said they would fail right away. All I said is it can make it wear out sooner. That could mean 2 years or 20 years, I don't know. I do know that it will cause a slight bit of extra heating. A motor pulls more current whenever there is more work to be done. More current means more heat. More heat means faster insulation failure. Its very simple.

I also don't like them since I have seen them fall out on the highway when putting the window down. I saw it just over a year ago on my way home from work. The person two cars in front of me put down his window and there it went. I almost ran it over.

BTW my stick on ones have been on for over 40K miles with no peeling.

I ordered these (in-channels) from realtruck.com. They haven't been delivered yet, but I'll let you know how they install.

Default In-Channel

I bought some of the Wade in-channel ones from Quadratec and installed them today, or at least tried to. I do agree that it puts some strain on the window motor, at least when rolling up the front windows. It puts so much strain that it seems like the window stops before it actually gets all the way up. I can't seem to get the back ones to stay on correctly. The tape doesn't really stick that well and when i roll my windows down it brings them down with it. I'm thinking of either glueing them in or just getting the ones that tape onto the outside. Has anyone else had this experience?

Put the OEM peel and stick vent visors on all our Jeeps. Never had any problems. Oldest set was on the 97XJ put on just after we purchased new. They were still sturdy last year when it was towed away (eldest daughter totaled it).

Dave,
I had the same issue with the two sided tape...it doesn't hold to the felt inside the upper window track. Mine move a little (both up & down) but they sit in there firmly.

But now that I've had them for few weeks I kinda like being able to take them out for cleaning. Since they fit so tight, and I have to "bend" them to get em in; it's a good set up that they're not too permanent.
