Cool, I run a removeable roof rack. I think it looks great. and gives you room on the back for gas/lift/etc.

What kind of roof rack is it? Can you add a link to this so I can look at it, because I might be interested In that

Its the surco roof rack for the JK from quadratec. I am not sure if there is a board mount available. However, Yakima does make one.

I mounted my hi lift on the hood but I don't know if you'd want to leave it out in the elements especially since you're going to be in snowy conditions exposed to road salt. But if you are, I got the ACE hi lift hood mounts that use the hood hinge bolts and I highly recommend them!

How bad does the road salt screw up the lift? I was thinking about just putting it on the tailgate hinges for now. Will the road salt affect it?

Also I was looking at putting hi lift somewhere and also looking at the smittybilt element ramps to mount somewhere.

I really don't want a roof rack and would like to mount a lot of the stuff on the bumper, was looking at the Garvin rear bumper since you can mount tools and all to it. But if roof rack is the way to go I will consider it

Well,

The surco roof rack is the cheapest easiest way to put all that on your jeep. Surco makes mounting points for the high lift, and shovel/axe. The smittybilt plates will mount up there too. Plus room for your boards. and the third thing, it will look kick ass on your polar. I love that jeep.

Road salt will totally screw up a high lift. You have to be very careful with them or they can injure you badly.

If you don't clean and oil it, the road salt will eat it up just like it will any bare metal. Hi Lift's paint chips easily so there will be some bare metal exposed. Like the post above mine said, it can totally screw the jack up if you don't maintain it. And yes, they are very dangerous if you don't know how to properly use it. Or if the user is just plain stupid. But back to the point, that's why I have a cover for the winter months and I clean it every month so it stays in pretty good shape.
