Default Snow tire sizing

When i purchased my jeep i worked a deal for the dealer to provide a free set of snow tires. I had them installed recently and noticed that the size was different. The original tire size was 255/75R17 (S-package) and the snow tires are 245/70R17. This according to my calculations make my wheels about an inch and a half lower!! I'm wondering if i should argue for the original size and will the lower profile void any warranty?

Your calculation is right, and no, the narrower & smaller tire shouldnt change any warranty. It will add in some error to your speedo, which since the dealer got you the tires, you could have the dealer redo the speedo calibration in when you get the tires on in winter & off in the spring.

There is some advantage to the narrower tire for snow tho, as it will sink in to the harder snow or down to the road, instead of floating on top of the snow.
