Default Soft top B piliar leak!

Since I bought my 2007 Unlimited JK (bought July 2007) it has had leaks at both B piliars. Since it stays mostly in the garage I have not tried to figure it out until recently. We got caught out in the heavy rain today for a bout 1 hour and soaked the inside of the Jeep behind the front seats. I notice the foam strip in picture 1 that seems to absorb water like a songe and cause the water to go by the door seals. It also gets the back side of the soundboard padding wet (picture 2), drips down the inside of the B piliar interior trim, then some water comes out where the upper and lower trim meet (picture 3). Then drips onto the floor in picture 4 under the carpet. Some times the lower seat belt gets wet also. This happen on both sides.

What does that foam do??? Thought of removing it and useblack silicone. Have anyof you had the same leak???

it looks like the door seal is not correctly on the door in the corner.

All of your pictures have red X's on them. But anyways I went into the garge and checked the door seal. Its on right fitted in the channel, thats the first place I looked. I work for an autobody shop and trouble shoot leaks all the time. Just don't have the pateints for mine. The way the door seals and weather stripping on the JK is done is poor at best.

Maybe someone else has had this problem and has a solution for it besides ripping off the foam and using silicone on it. Just seeing if anyone else has this problem or might think its leaking from somewhere else and its comming from the B pilliar. More thoughts on fixing are better that one.

101, i had the exact leaks that you have. I went 5 times to 1 dealer ,and then went to a different dealer per my lemon law lawyer and they had water doctor work on it and where able to get leaks to almost stop, just get a few drops once in a while,so i took the cash settlement and kept the jeep. Will take some pics tomorrow to show what water doctor did.

Water Doctor??? WTF are those guys telling you?
Is he covered under Blue Cross and does he make house calls?
Is this a special mechanics apprenticeship no one has ever heard of?

I looked at the Jeep this morning since the Jeep is dry from being in the garage and that foam tape is still wet even up under the black B-piliar top seal. I think this week since we are going to have nice weather I will pull the top and remove the foam tape and apply some 3M automotive black silicone or sealent.
