Default soft top compatibility?

I was wondering if a 2007 jku soft top will work on a 2010 jku? I found one for $100 minus the door surrounds and pieces for the rear window. I was wondering if there would be any issues with fitment without these pieces? I was looking for a bikini top and thought this might work as a substitute. Any info would be appreciated on the matter. I dont want to get it and then not be able to install it and use it. So my main concern is will it work?

Good question. I'm wondering the same thing now (compatibility in general) since I've got someone offering their soft top for my ace/rubi sliders...

Yeah we've entered into a grey area with those years.. Seems the soft top 07-09 work well together.. but some reason the 010 has a redesign then the 011 - current work well.. I think it's based on your door surrounds.. Granted we sold our old soft top for 100 also.. Not even sure the guy knew if it would fit or not on his jeep.

Couple of things you'd be looking for.. if the top has plastic tabs over the door which fit into the surrounds.. assuming your surrounds have the channel these tabs fit into.. then there is the point of the windshield footman loop being offset/one side..

Also.. if this is your first soft top.. you'll need shoulders & hardware for the roll bars which I have if you need them seeing how you have an 07.. I have a couple of pics of when I deconstructed the soft top.. if you need to see a few key areas.

As far as running an 07 on a 10, yes it will fit but you will have to remove the footman loop above the windshield or trim the soft top header around it. Soft tops have evolved over the years so it is important to get all the parts for a particular year.

As far as running it with the door surrounds, I have no idea. Thinking it may be pretty flappy...lol

What is the foot man loop? Is it the one on the windshield above the mirror? It should be easy enough to add some velco straps to fix the flappyness dont you think

You still need the bows to hold it up. The bows attach to the roll bar with brackets. Does he have the roll bar brackets and bolts? The door surrounds stay on even when you remove the doors. Again, without them it may be flappy as far as flapping in the wind but I honestly don't know. When my soft top is closed, it has springs and cables to keep it snug in the surrounds. I don't believe the 07s have that. You may be fine. The footman loop will be an issue still but easily corrected.

Yes. It is easy to trim just a little off the header with a dremel to make it fit. Otherwise the loop will hold it up just enough to allow wind and rain to enter.

Not sure on the velcro. Maybe someone has tried it and will chime in.

It does have the bow and brackets. I guess it might just be easier to get a bikini top. I was thinking I might be able to save a little money and get a top that might last a little longer. Any input on a good bikini top?

No, I run the soft top. Here's a picture of the grinding required. Not much.

Well.. I do have a slightly used Bikini top.. Not the safari top.. but it's missing (torn away) the 2 outer cinch straps that are over the speaker bar.. The top is secure.. But I have a feeling we'll be ordering a new one soon.. Not sure how soon you need the Bikini.. but once I do a few adjustments of my own.. and you still want to old Bikini.. it's yours for the asking.. and if I have time.. I'll see if I can restitch the 2 missing straps.

Just a warning.. these bikini style tops typically come with a 1 year warranty.. thus the 2 missing straps tore away at about 1 year 8 months.. So it just depends if your going to run this type of top year round.

14sport.. The Oper could just remove the footman loop instead of grinding.. am I correct on this statement?
