Default Soft top fluttering

So this summer when i put my soft top back on after removing the hardtop, when the windows are open the top flutters real bad from the wind. This didnt happen last summer, and im pretty sure everythings on correctly. Any ideas of whats causing it or how to fix it?

Could possibly be just that the top is getting older. As stupid as that might sound. As does any soft top in time - it stretches, fades, tears, etc. Very much so could just be that....

After taking my JK's top off a few times this summer, I noticed, but didn't think much of it, that the top was fluttering... 'Til I noticed that the support bar a crossed the top of the sound bar, the top has a Velcro wrap around to hold to this bar. Reattached it... Fluttering gone... Except at the back where side and back windows attach.

Hope this helps.

That is correct too, depending on what year your jeep is/what soft top you have. Good point.

I know on my 07 it was a Velcro option to take off the support bar. On my 2010, it is sewn-on/around with no option to take off, etc.

my jeeps a 2012 so this is only the second summer ive had it on. Ive been in 2007s-2012s and none seem to have the same problem. im pretty sure mine is sewn on as well, but ill take a look again. Most of the noise is coming from the front bar where the clamps are attached to. It seems the soft top is banging into that plastic piece and making most of the noise.

Are your rubber clamp inserts missing? If so, slack could be in the clamp to windshield frame.

I have found turning on the HVAC Fan creates enough interior air pressure to alleviate most of the flutter, with the fan off, it's pretty raucous even at 45mph.

Ditch the top. Hated my hard top so I got a soft top. Hated the soft top because it essentially disintegrated after 4 years. Half the thing flew off on the freeway. I thought: "hmm. Guess I no longer have a top." That was over a year ago and it's my daily driver.

Ditch the top entirely.
