Default soft top to a hard top?

Hey everyone,

I had a question is it possible to put a 2008 hard top on a 2012 and a 2012 soft top on a 2008 with little to no modification ? This will be done on a 4 dr jeeps

I will be swapping with another member and wanted to know.

And before everyone goes just keep your soft top summer is here..I would if I could but me and the misses are having a baby and the wife wants a hard top on it. So either a hard top or bye bye jeep...so let's just say I'm getting a hard top.

Yes I believe so. But u don't have the harness for the hard top right now for the defrost or rear wiper or the buttons on your steering column

I'm the member he's tradin and I was wondering the same question (vise verse). I heard the door surrounds change but as long as I use the new door surrounds the new top should fit, right? And as far as the freedom panels... Will they latch correctly to his (2012) winshield?

That's ok it doesn't have the wiper motor on it any ways so that works out. Thanks for the input

I have no experience with this swap, but I was curious so I looked up the part numbers for the hard tops on the Mopar parts site and they are different.
'07 - '08 uses one part number for the hard top w/freedom panels and '09 - '12 use a different part number. I guess you guys are going to have to meet up and try it out.

Just might have too...you would think just removing all the hardware would work.
