soft top header??
ok so i got a smokin deal on a soft top off of an '08 rubi for my '13 sport but the only problem is it has the all plastic header and doesnt seal in the middle of the windshield and howls like crazy on the highway...
for now ive added extra weatherstripping to the header bar and its quieted it down a bit but the top still sticks up a bit, i called the dealer and he said its 180 about for the new revised header that is supposed to be reinforced
is there anything that can be done bwith the '08 header to make it work? does anybody have a revised header that they wouldnt mind selling?

Look at the header and make sure it isn't hitting the footman loop on the windshield. In 2009, it was moved to the side to allow the hardtop to use it as a latching point. The 07-08 had it in the middle. The newer tops/headers have a bigger cut out to allow for the loop to be in either place, whereas the older tops only had the cut out for the loop in the middle.
I just installed on Monday a new header I ordered online for $100 bucks. Took about 30 minutes to install. Fixed all my issues with bowing out, leaks, and reduced wind noise. Moparpartsamerica.com
With the 07-09 (before they moved the loop) you can just take the loop off, it isn't used if you don't drop the windshield. In the newer ones it is shifted to the side slightly to allow the Freedom tops to use it for a pressure point.

Yeah. I decided to just remove the plastic piece that was hitting the loop on my windshield since I want to still be able to use my hardtop.
The plastic header part is just hollow. In case somebody has this same issue.

I just picked up my new '13 JKUR10A yesterday. Came w/ hardtop no soft top. I found a Mopar soft top from a '12 Rubi 4 dr and he is asking $575. Top was used twice. All door seals look good, windows are like new.
I think the top is worth about $300 to me and I will probably offer him that.
This being the Mopar top it seems to me I will avoid the issues of a tight install noted with the Bestops and be able to fit my new Jeep with the dual top for a lot less than I would have paid as an option.
Is this top worth the trouble? I live in Utah and will be on the trail a lot. Or should I just get a weather cover for when it rains?
