Default Soft Top Problem

Anyone have a problem like this? No matter how tight I pull it, it just doesn't stay put. I can only get it in place if I have someone push the soft top hardware in the back, forward. Eventually, it pulls itself out again!!!

Are you just starting the zipper a little, maybe an inch or so, and then putting in the door section? I want to say that when I put my windows back on in my unlimited, I just barely start the zipper, fasten in the section to the doorframe, then the bottom, and lastly I finish zipping. This is all off the top of my head, but I know I do not have the problem you have. Mine seems to all fasten in fine.

So from what I could feel, none of the Velcro shows from under the flap, that seam near the top of your door should line up with the door, not just below it, and following the portion wrapped into the channel on the door surround, above the door, where it begins to flair back out to follow the body lines; that also should be folded over the surround, and not start that outward flair until past the bottom of the flap. It just looks like your window is sitting around 1/2 inch to low. It also appears the top portion of the window isn't fully seated in the channel on the surround.

And I understand if you read this and say" WTF all you did was describe what I already know." Sorry, but I can't see it well, and I just described the differences I could feel. If you don't get a good answer by tomorrow morning, I'll get you a picture of the way it should look, and maybe have a better idea of your problem.

i have same exact problem. its not an installation problem. its defiantly a hardware issue.

took it to the dealer, they got a new window... didnt help. it doesnt leak, so im just accepting it.

i think it has something to do with the black plastic frame thingie.

That just looks wrong... Maybe the dealer has to replace the whole top.

I had an issue with my back window. After the dealer installed two replacement windows and they all fit wrong, I insisted that they get me a new top. They did and the problem was solved but I had to insist on the replacement top. They thought it was all good after the third window was put in but the fit still wasn't right. Something was just not made right with the top itself. I'd be harassing the dealer if I were you.

i honestly dont think the entire top is in need of replacing, just the plastic piece that the rear window folds into.

It looks like they might of stitched your zipper too far away from the door, at the top. Does your window have a wrinkle towards the rear, like there is extra material on one side. If I were you I'd get it fixed from the dealer, new window or top, whatever they need to do to fix it. Your paying for a warranty on a new vehicle so it should be done right, don't just write it off as a Jeep thing until the warranty is over ... my
Does it stay like that if you undo the velcro across the top? Just thinking. I always do the velcro last.

Thanks everyone. I first thought it was a problem with the window and it still could be. it just doesn't match up and I've tried about everything I could think of. The zippers start where they should but the fit just isn't there. There is no real noticable crease or fold so it's pretty subtle.

I'm thinking it's a hardware think with the top rear bar. if it was just a quarter inch back, it would work out ok. Might have to pay a trip to the dealer. Thanks!
