Default Soft top problems! :(

Hey all, Im sitting here, in a 103 degree shop, in a severe state of confusion and frustration, trying to get my soft top installed. I just bought this thing today for $350...it was still all wrapped up and in boxes. It's from a 2009 model, going onto my 2007. Does anybody have a link or a video on how to get this thing installed, and all the parts needed? I looked in my manual, and still pretty confused. I think I might be missing a part...but im not sure, could just be doing it wrong....HEEELLLLP!!

Thanks!
Colby.

I did.....got lots of links if how to take it down and back up again, but couldn't find how to initially attach it. I've never had a soft top on anything before....it's gonna be a long night.

It would be a pain to write it all out, and the official instructions won't help too much.

But here is a quick summary and I don't have pics. So this summary is only partially useful.

Remove hard top.

Install brackets on the rear roll bar (need to use a torx 30)

Lay the soft top on the rear of the jeep.

Screw two 30 torx bolts on each side of the jeep to connect the frame to the newly installed brackets.

Install the the door surrounds. My 2011 4 door has two sections. They have hand screws to install them.

Then unfold the soft top, but don't connect the front. Make sure you connect the middle area for the sunrider. The 2009 has some part that needs to be tucked in but I don't know what part as I have a 2011 top.

Slip the rear corners of the softtop into place.

After the top is warmed up (its summer so it should not be too cold and stiff) attach the front. This part can be hard on a new top.

Then slide the two corner brackets on that hold the tailgate bar. Next slide the tailgate bar onto the rear window.

Zip on ther rear window and then push on the tailgate bar.

The side windows are next and they are a pain. Start with folding the leading edge into the door surround. Then slide in the bottom. The next step will have you cursing, you have to start the zipper on top. Zip it up and lay the velco flat.

Then you are done.

Did you have a soft top before and what is it that has you perplexed? Is it the assembly of the top or putting the top onto the jeep?
Pic 1: I cant seem to get the hooks to reach the loop to clamp down.

Pic 2: this doesn't look right...shouldn't these two bars be connected??

Pic 3: overall pic of where im at so far.

Pic 4: back end again...it's the part that's giving me problems.

Pic 5: what the heck are these??

No, I've had a hard top since I got the jeep. I'm just kinda in the dark here.

The manual sucked!!!! Did you not get a piece of paper in with the soft top? It was a lot more helpful. Maybe a nearby dealership has something they could print you out..... Good luck...,once it's done..., it'll be a good thing to laugh about in hindsite.

No, they each sit on little metal tabs somewhere on your roll cage (outside of the rollcage) I have a 2dr so it is a little different

These go on either side of the tailgate, if you look you'll see the metal is notched. They are side specific and will only slide but so far. They hold the tailgate bar into place.

Back to the pics and an edit....
1: I did, still about a half inch away...might work of I get the rest if it on first.

2: there's no way it'll fit on the outside, it's too narrow. I'll take another pic.

5: I got em on.

Haha, it actually was a lot of help. At least now I know it's not JUST my ignorance that's holding me back; it's also some missing pieces. Lol. Thanks a lot for your help.
