Default Soft top...up or down in under 5 mins.

I timed myself today taking my 2 door's softop down and putting it up. I wasn't moving artificially fast, just not wasting any time. These times include putting the windows between three towels, rolling them up and putting them in the trunk.

Top down...4:16. (4 mins, 16 seconds).

Top up..and this surprised me...4:52.

So all you guys crying about how hard the softop is just need more practice.

I can get it up with windows in 4 mins. But no way you got it down and in the boot cover in under 5. That boot cover is tighter then the queen of england.

Are your times on an Unlimited or 2 door? I was never one to complain, but the first time sucked, over 30 minutes getting it down. I was folding the sunrider incorrectly, and if you do this, it will not lay correct when dropped all the way down. Second time only took about 10 minutes with window roll up and storage, along with the boot. I am also anal about looks, so each fold is even and uniform.

I had to laugh seeing this thread...I thought I was the only one sick enough to bother timing myself... just last night I timed myself putting the soft top back up on my 4 DR. I struggle putting it down because I find myself unable to get the folds right without visiting both sides of the jeep. But putting it back up took me 6 minutes - I am convincing myself it is not an issue to drop the top leaving work and putting it back up 40 minutes later when I get home. I have to say I have found the sunrider top to be a great option on many days.

I bought a bestop cab cover a couple months ago. I thought, this will be so easy to get some quick rain protection. It took longer to put on than the soft top, so I sent it back. The soft top is so easy, but I don't roll up my windows (I know I should).

Like others, I have found that dropping and raising the soft top has become dramatically faster with time. I'm convinced that in addition to getting better at the process, the top has also loosened up SIGNIFICANTLY during the few weeks I've had it.

The top definitely loosens up....the side panels pop in real easy now and I used to have to struggle to get them into the grooves.

And I guess I'm cheating, since I don't have a soft top boot (nor would I get one, as it would slow me down!).

Anyone who wants to take me on, I'll time myself again, this time in a rush. And your time must include rolling your windows up in some sort of protective bag, be it 3 towels or the thing they sell that's made for the job.

Come get some.

I haven't time myself but I have gotten quicker. I to don't have the boot. With this Louisiana weather I am up and down with the top all the time. I got caught by a quick shower that came out of now where. The top was up ut the back windows and front doors off though. Had to rush home and wipe the whole thing down.

I do agree that the top has gotten easier with time.

We're going to need video so we know that your times are accurate. Not that I don't trust you, it's just that if it's a competition.... Well, you get the point.
