Been through the central New York winter with just the soft top. No problems at all. I think the soft top holds heat in better than the hard top too. We had a hard top on our TJ and it always felt cold in it like the heat was being drawn out through the roof. I don't miss the hard top at all.

I live in PA and have no problems in the winter. I only run a soft top. Maybe someone would want to donate a hard top to me??

As long as I have owned a Jeep I have heard people ask, "is it warm enough in the winter?" It is definitely warm enough. The Jeep heaters will melt the rubber off your sneakers.

A few years ago a friend of mine was based in Iceland in the Navy. We aren't talking upstate NY folks, we're talking ICELAND. He had his YJ shipped up there. It had a soft top. He was there for a few years and his Jeep was outdoors the entire time. No problems. The only thing worth mentioning is that in the morning he would find very small piles of snow (less than a handful) around some of the zippers, but with the excessively high winds, what do you expect...?

One area where you will see a difference with the soft top is as soon as you shut off the engine. The heat dissipates VERY quickly. Of course, 99.99% of the time if I'm in my Jeep, it's running (at least in the winter).

Definitely keep the snow and ice off the top. It adds weight and stretches the top.

We had a record winter here in Washington. I have only soft top with half doors and I was warm and toasty!
