Spun Main Bearing
Sorry to further hijack this thread....but,
Thanks a bunch Flash, I was giving wrong info. I deleted my post.
The Aeroforce gauge will display stock JK auto tranny temp even though the JK comes with no gauge.
It will not display 3.8 engine oil pressure according to the Aeroforce forums. The 3.8 apparently does not have that sensor. One would still have to install a sensor to use it.
I forgot, after a year, that I am getting an oil pressure display from it because I am running a Hemi, and the 6.1 has the pressure sensor.

Mine had the exact same symptoms, same issue, just 10,000 miles more on the odometer, and I bought mine new off the showroom floor.
I didn't get any pictures of the damage, so thanx a lot for posting those!! Now I can show people when I tell the story (call it a "simulation" to make sure they know it's not my rig...
)
Wondering how many more this is going to happen to before it becomes a real issue? Kinda coincidental that these exact same symptoms and results are happening.
The saga isn't over...now the catalyst failed and I have to get it replaced tomorrow...good thing is that it's covered under the 80,000 mile federal emissions warranty...bad thing is, I get to spend more quality time in the dealership service department...the jeep has been there a total of 69 days since the engine blew in early April.
Don't get me wrong, I still get in my Jeep every morning and drive to work with a smile on my face. Wouldn't trade it for anything, but it certainly hasn't been a fun Jeep year thus far...

If you have made even the simplest and non-related of mods and run into problems, "Talk to the hand."
My '08 supposedly has a lifetime powertrain warranty, but I'm not holding my breath if I ever need it.
Yeah, this is really starting to freak me out a bit. What preventative steps can I take to make sure this doesn't happen? Synthetics? Oil changes every 3k?

Didn't mean to freak you guys out!

All in all, considering the number of Jeeps out there, and the number of incidents I have heard of, there isn't a need for widespread panic just yet.
Just stay on a regular maintenance schedule, and hopefully the engine gremlins will pass you by.
Anthony
