Default Squeak from A-Column

Did a search and couldn't find anything on this. I picked up my JK 2 weeks ago. Right away I noticed a squeak/noise from the passenger A-Column. After a week, I now hear the same noise from the driver's A-Column. Almost sounds like movement of compressed styrofoam, but it definitely is not coming from the styrofoam of the rollbar. I am almost certain it is from the A-Columns. Any ideas on the origin of the noise?

I have the noise on the drivers side a-column. I can't describe it, but when you hit some abnormalities in the road you'll get it. It seems to be right where the top half of the plastic and bottom half of the plastic meet.

I think it's just a jeep thing. I'm sure with a few more miles you'll start hearing all kinds of noise.

I've found that noises in the JK seem to transfer through the Jeep and sometimes aren't where you think they are. For example the "clunK" in the B pillar turned out to be the door and a new or adjusted latch fixed it. I don't know if this might be your problem but here is a "nasty squeek" we had on the driver's side and how it was fixed. It wasn't in the steering column after all. Hope this helps.

Back in feb 07, I had some issues on my brand new JK. First, I had sounds from the screws holding the visor... check that those are tight. Next, I had sounds that turned out to be the cowl vent in front of the windshield... the sound moved all the way back into the cabin from there. Have someone bang around some while you sit inside.

Check here if you think you have the cowling noise... https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/stock-jk-tech-12/squeaking-dash-noise-cured-3743/

Good luck.

I had the same squeak and it turned out to be the two pieces of plastic rubbing in the corner. When it's making the noise wedge your fingers in that crack where the a pillar meets the dash. You may have to try a couple different place and then see if that quiets the noise. I found that the screws were tight so I took everything apart and put a piece of cloth back there and then tightened everything back up and no noise since then.

I took it into the dealer and it turns out that it was probably my fault. I didn't tighten the bolts enough when I installed my front grab handles. That was causing some movement in the infrastructure of the A-pillar. Once they tightened everything, the noise went away on both sides.

By the way, I see you're in Prescott Valley. I've had a cabin up in Walker for the past 11 years (used to live down in Scottsdale). I love it up there in Northern AZ.
