Default Is This The Stall Bug?

So I'm driving home from work last night. I get a clear shot to pull into a 4 lane highway with traffic approaching from my left. I've got plenty of time to pull out, cross the first two lanes and make my left turn. I pull out like I've done 5 nights a week since I've had the JK and get to the middle of the first two lanes and the Jeep dies. Not completely but just goes to "dieseling". No power to move or anything. I push the clutch in hoping it will smooth out as traffic is coming up on me now. Nothing but the dieseling still. I'm watching the approaching traffic probably like a deer in the headlights and the Jeep won't do anything. The traffic slowed (thankfully) and I turned the ignition off. It still kept dieseling for about 20 more seconds before it finally shut down. I tried to restart it and it took about 3 or 4 tries before it fired up and ran normally. Off I go thankful the traffic was paying attention and probably giving me a good cussing but hey, I'm still here to talk about it! Anyway, the Jeep ran fine the rest of the way home. This is the first time anything like this has happened since I bought it last May. Has anyone else experienced this. I've read some of the stall bug threads and it seems like they have shut down completely. Mine didnt. I did notice a lot of lights on the dash but to be honest I was more worried about the oncoming traffic than studying the dash lights. Sorry for the long post. Any ideas appreciated.

Whew that sounds dangerous... and yes, thank goodness you're still here to talk about it.
That's not the stall bug I've experienced and got the flash to alleviate. Both times mine stalled, it restarted within 3 seconds. First time I re-started it with the key, 2nd time it restarted within 2 seconds by itself. Mine didn't "diesel", it just shut down.
Both of my occurences were between 2500 and 5000 miles. Got the flash done at 6k and have not had a re-occurence. (now at 16k)
Sounds like you might have some error codes stored, so it's worth it to get a dealer to scan yours and possibly fix it??!!

Good thing nothing bad happened to ya. I've experienced the stall bug. I was just driving in my neighborhood and out of nowhere the power shut off and its like the Jeep was rolling on neutral. It was only a matter of a few seconds and the Jeep started herself back up. I didn't feel very comfortable with that experience so I brought it to the dealer the next morning.

I hope you figure out the problem!

Yeah, I may take it in although I don't have a check engine light on.
Thanks for all the quick responses.
I'll post more when I find out something.

geese i hope that thing isnt rearing it's ugly head again.

It may be a singular unexplainable occurance, or it could be the stall bug (i had it) does it throw any codes?

You drive thru any deep water lately? Just wondering because I had the dieseling thing after doing a water crossing. Found the switch on the back of the evap can was off! How can that happen? Well it is keyed and takes a 1/4 turn to the right, then locks in with a spring loaded device between 2 pieces of plastic. Guess the factory did not lock it in. Now I got all kinds of problems, engine light, dieseling, no power, rattling in the exhaust, etc. Back to the dealership soon as that should have never come off.

exact same thing happens to me, this is how the JK stalls when ya don't give it enough gas and clutch stall the jeep
what ever u do DO NOT try to start it you will break a tooth off the fly wheel like i did. turn key off restart give it plenty of gas and go.
i only do it in 4x4 now i hvae a light skinny foot at 1.21 per litre.

good luck

mine does it if i let out the clutch too fast also. it really tick's me off cause you can not let the clutch out fast enough and it gets about 500 rpm and you cant give it gas or nothing it just dies slowley.

No, not even any rain to speak of.

Now I guess this could be possible. I havent stalled it since I've owned it but I won't rule it out. Did yours just keep dieseling ? I even turned the key off and it kept sputtering for awhile. And NO, I would never try to start it with it still running.

does it throw any codes?
I havent had it checked yet, been working too much. I dont have a "check engine" light though. I'll have to see if Autozone can check for codes. I may have time to stop by there today.
