Stalling out...
Ok, I thought I was the only one having this problem. This happened to me last Saturday, February 10th. No issues since then...
I was going through town and crept up over 35mph and took my foot off
the gas to slow down. As soon as I let up off the gas, the engine
shut off for a second or so. I guess the momentum fired it back up
again (automatic transmission). It acted as if I had reached down
and turned the ignition off and back on. All of the dash lights came
on for the usual amount of time and then went off as normal. No
dummy lights lit up, and it ran as normal the rest of the way home.
I parked and unloaded the wife and kids and moved the jeep to its
normal parking place with no indication of trouble.
To sum up the event, I was going 40mph with 70 miles on the current
tank of gas. The weather was clear and around 43 degrees F. I
stopped for a red light about a mile before. I have done no
modifications to my Wrangler. I bought it on December 5th with 7
miles on it. X unlimited with auto transmission.
The dealer is 40 miles away and I hate to drive it over there just to get a dumb look because there are no indicator lights lit up about this event.

This same thing has happened to mine twice in 8500 miles. We have also taken it in to the dealership and they tell me they can't find anything wrong with it. The last time it happened my wife was driving and turned the bright lights on and it just died and started right back up.
I was test driving an auto and manual when this happened:
Going down the on-ramp to the highway, accelerating from 30mph to 50mph, all dash lights came on, lost rpms, couldn't bring them up past 1.5K. Had full power steering and brakes, but couldn't raise rpms. Pulled over, stopped engine, attempted to restart and didn't have any turnover.
Dealership picked me up, said it must have been a battery issue.
Ordered my JK 4dr anyways, hoping this isn't a wide spread issue.
p.s. Was with the Manual tranny

It has happend to me twice in 7k miles. I took it to the dealer within two hours of its most recent occurance. I'm fortune, in that the shop manager took my issue on personally. We looked in his special "yet to be released to the public" TSB's, and there is still nothing specific. He called me a couple of days ago, and said they are going to install a new computer. When I find out more, I will post it.
I might as well add mine to this too. So far it has happened to me two different times. The first time I was rolling up to an intersection and the thing died as if I had turned the key off. It did not start back up on it's own. Yesterday morning I was driving around 40 mph, all the lights came on then everything shut down... including the engine. It coasted for about 2 seconds and fired back up. I have the manual transmission so I'm assuming the momentum started it back as I never took it out of gear. I have almost 6000 miles on it now.
I took it to the dealer after the first time it happened. Of course they couldn't duplicate the issue and said they couldn't find any codes in the computer blah blah blah....

stall bug is right...it happened twice ..the second time i acyually ran out of gas:toung: but interestingly the engine just went to idle and would not accelerate and then it did die....out of gas ..put a gallon in and I don't think the fuel pump came on imediately ,cause it took awhile of cranking to fire up.
I'm still betting on an intermittant power loss to the ignition...I turned my key off when driving and then back on ...it is identical to the stall bug. There was another thread on someone with an intermittant alternator too, HMMMMMM some kinda electical gremlins.....
STILL LOVIN IT THO!!!!!
