Default starter issue?

about twice a month my jeep won't turn over--

i'll put the key in, everything lights up fine. turn the key to start it and all i get is a "ca-chunk" noise like it's about to turn over and nothing happens.

i turn the key back to the off position and then start again and it turns over fine.

the radio and clock keep their settings. no check engine or electrical warning lights.

my battery is still throwing 13 or 14v. it's a year old optima red top.

any ideas?

Do you have an auto transmission? If so, it could be your neutral safety switch going out.

Default You are not alone my friend

All I Know is our JK has done this the last 18 months our so. I of course replaced battery starter. Their is no safety neutral switch.
Pours will go months and not do it then for no reason it does it. With out fail you unlock steering wheel move shifter up and back turn the key. Works everytime. Have talked to many of Jeep techs. They don't know what does it. Jeep tells the rewire or reboot computer.
We know at least 4 other JK owners 07-09 that ex prince this.

I recommed to just live with it ------it's a Jeep Thing.
Hope this helps.
