The issue in this thread refers to the starter remaining engaged after the engine starts, and the starter has been de-energized.

6 months ago my jeep wouldn't start. I could hear the starter spinning but not engaging the fly wheel. Replaced the starter, no missing teeth on the fly wheel. Yesterday morning same issue with the starter. Spinning but not engaging the fly wheel. Anyone know if the cause. I will replace the starter again but don't want to be stranded in the future especially off road. Thanks in advance for any help. Also the only electrical issue I've had is with the stock radio. Everything works but no sound. Replaced with a second stock radio that lasted 2 weeks and one morning no sound.
I'd bet the replacement was a rebuild from a chain parts store -- right?. Those are much more a roll of the dice proposition, OEM quality is usually best, and online is better pricing than at the dealer.
