Default steering bump-wobble

Okay. I have had this problem before and the STEALership replaced the steering stabilizer and some brake parts on my 2007 JK sahara with the 18inch factory wheels. They said that the larger wheels were causing a little more wear and they have "upgraded" these parts because of the problems.

So here i am 3 months down the road and i take a trip to Houston and come back and the steering BUMPS when i hit bumps or change lanes or correct for the wind that is blowing like crazy. I can feel it in the steering wheel and alittle in the pedal.

Keep in mind they have already replaced the bottom end(cats after they found out it wasnt the bottom end), seals in the front diff, replaced the front axles from exessive squeeking, the soft top because it started unwinding at the edges... Grr this jeep sure is making this first time owner angry about Jeeps.

I was thinking about lifting it when i get back from Iraq. I have been into building race cars for a long time, this is my first 4wd. I have only been out on the trail once or twice so she isnt getting beat up all the time.

Any suggestions to a alternate problem? i already read the threads on upgrading the stabilizer, and the school of thought that its pretty much pointless, but could that solve my problem?

Thanks in advance,
Marc

I agree I just put a Rancho Steering Stabilizer in with a relocation bracket and it drives a whole lot better. I had the death wobble real bad before as well and now it's gone too.

I did price out a 09 Sahara fully loaded with a 4inch lift and 33's only 100 more a month wooT!

if i wasnt about to leave id be all over it.

Does upgrading the stock steering stabilizer make much of a difference on a stock Jeep or is it just a waste of money?

I can't hurt it thats for sure. Mine is stock, but after adding beefier tires I decided to get one and its worked well so far. It won't fix any problems you have with your suspension but it will help kickback.

Yeah it seems to be a bump in the steering when you make small adjustments or go over bumps. I was thinking about taking the thing off all together to see what it does

There's nothing wrong with my suspension, but the latter is exactly the reason I've been thinking about upgrading mine. I figured that it might pretty much eliminate that and maybe even have a better "on center feel".

Stock '08 Rubicon with 4500 miles on it.

Correct toe-in would help that "on center feel", far better than any steering stabilizer.

Even if you went the route of two SS's, opposing each other, since then you would have to worry about whether or not they were centered when installed, if one was weaker than the other and so on.
