Default Stock 17" aluminum wheel width?

What is the width of the stock aluminum wheels? They seem to be about 8.5". I'm asking because I came into some BJG Mud Terrain KM's that are the same size as my stock tires. (255/75R17) I want to get some steel rims to put them on. I've been looking at the Mopar 17"x7.5" but am not sure about the width. I found some Black Rock 17x8's that are about $87 each and I think they are a lot closer to what width I have. So which would be better 17x7.5, 17x8 or 17x9?

You can run any of the wheel sizes that you'd like- it really makes no difference. If you like the looks and price of the black rocks then go with them. If your future plans include many highway miles, proper tire pressure, and wide (12.5") tires then skip the 8" wides and do the 9's for better tire wear.

Stock rims, as you might know by now are 17x7.5. With a 255 tire, I'd do a 8-7.5 inch wide wheel, no 9.0.

I think I will be going with a steel 17x8 with a 4.5 backspacing. I doubt I will be going any bigger than 255/75R17 for a while. But, I am putting a 2 inch Teraflex leveling kit on in about a month or so. I'm remodeling our house, (tight on money) so I will be buying wheels at a rate of about 1 or 2 a week for a while before I mount the new tires. I'm still rolling on the stock Goodyear Wrangler SR-As right now; I want to get my moneys worth out of the stock tires. At least during the summer, so I don't melt off the awesome offroad tread of the BFG Mud Terrains just going to work. Thanks for the replys.
