Default Stock air filter clips

Ok I am sure this is a idiot question but does anyone else have issues clipping the front air filter clip? The one near the rad. I checked my filter yesterday and could not get that one clip back on. I am guessing the dealer couldn't either since that is the only spot on the filter that is dirty. How do you all clip it closed? I am debating buying a different intake just for that stupid clip lol.
Thanks

I just reach around the bottom of the clip and can do it up. So your filter is dirty on the top side in the area of that clip?

It had some dust just on the lip. It doesn't appear to have gotten past the filter which is good but made me wonder if all 5 clips are needed.
I tried from below and couldn't reach. Will try again though. Perhaps I was just gifted at that moment. Lol.

I just put in an STP air filter last week and had a heck of a time getting that one last clip back in place. My hands are by no means freakishly large either

I've probably put about 6 or 7 air filters in this thing, and I've never have one give me trouble like that. Swapped my old filter back in, and it went in no problem. Had to fight with that last clip with the STP filter though. Made me look like a rookie in the parking lot of the auto parts store.

LOL, my hands are not that large... and the filter seems to fint in fine I just cant get to the clip easily. That power steering res is right there and then so is the rad hose at the top...maybe it is an over flow. Cant remember right this second. Will check again in a bit.

Yeah I checked mine a couple weeks ago while changing the oil and noticed the clip closest to the rad was on backwards and not clipped shut. Took me a few mins to realize it was on backwards. And it's a PITA to get it on right and then clip it. Damn lazy people before me!

Got it. Had to use a screw driver but it is set now. Still thinking about changing out the whole thing though.

Just changed my air filter today and yep, I had a heck of a time with that clip. I ended up using channel lock pliers and just squeezing the clip closed. I think I better change air filters more often. I had lots of dog hair in the air box. It looked like critters were trying to build a nest in it.

I checked my filter this past weekend. Found a few dragonflys and sand in the box underneath. My JK is a 2011 and I had no problem with the five retainer clips, even the one closest to the small radiator overfill hose. Maybe my JK was assembled correctly (or incorrectly) at the factory???
