Default Is the stock battery covered by the stock warranty?

It seems a little soon for the battery to have gone bad in my '11 but I wanted to have someone confirm if it's covered at all before I waste my time with the dealer. I didn't purchase any additional warranty coverage.

i doubt it is covered. in my wife's brand new honda minivan the battery went out w/in the first 30 days and less than 1,000 miles and honda said even that wasn't covered. but they replaced it as a courtesy (because i think they knew it was their own fault since a vehicle was sitting on the lot for a few months with hundreds of people opening and closing the power doors totally sucking the life out of the battery). in an odd turn of events, the new battery that they installed for free came with a 3 year warranty. but the OE battery was not covered by the car warranty.

i realize my experience is with honda vs. jeep, but i doubt the warranty is that different among manufacturers.

Mine went out just before having it 2 yrs. I borrowed one and went to the dealership and they told me they would have to hook it up and run tests and that would be all day. So I went and turned it in and got a 3 yr warranty from AutoZone. Never had a problem swapping batteries with them. No questions

Ya it basically says it only covers defects.

I always bought Duralast Gold in the past with a 3 year free replacement and they always went out on me around 34 months. Autozone was always super cool about replacing them.

We have never had a problem with a battery not been covered under warranty. One of our Subaru's batteries died at 30 months and was replaced. Both our previous Honda's batteries died within the 3 year 36,000 mile period and was replaced with no questions asked. Our current Hondas battery died this year at 11 months and same story.

Jeep is a little harder but still covered under the basic warranty. They do need to run a test to get a code for the factory. It take only 2 hours max. We just got the Jeeps battery replaced like that at 18 months and 18,000 miles on Friday. Plus we have tons of electrical mods on the Jeep.

The battery may be covered by the battery company warranty. You should have gotten the paperwork for the battery with all the other stuff that came with the Jeep.

However, the word battery doesn't appear in my copy of the 2011 warranty booklet, so it's not on any list of things not covered.

Give the dealer a try. If they say no, ask them to show you in writing why not.

Seems like you have a lot of bad luck with batteries?

Batteries don't last very long in the SoCal desert. They cook in the summer heat.

I'll be damned. I really wouldn't have expected the dealership replace a battery. I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.
