Default stock side step hardware

I recently took delivery of a set of side steps with no hardware. I had read another post or two and I thought the person was told just to go to the dealer and ask for the clips/bolts. So I left my wife with a note to ask today on her day off and she called saying the local dealer can't get just the hardware...they have to order the whole package. I'm like wtf...they have to be able to get the hardware (right?). I don't know enough to be able to go out looking for the pieces I need at a hardware store.

The dealer definately has the hardware. I have the part numbers for the "U-Nut" and matching 8.8 Bolt w/Washer at home if you can wait. You will need qty=4 of the U-Nut and qty=6 of the bolts (the last two mount holes in the back are threaded). I didn't bother with getting the numbers for the qty=12 nuts and washers needed to go through the pinch seam...picked up some metric grade 8 pcs from my local hardware store. They are 6mm

Any good dealer should be able to look them up. I think the U-nut p/n was something like 6101833.

Default step hardware

TEK- go to any well equipped local bodyshop and show one of the technicians the holes where the U-clips go. the front two holes take the u-clips they are covered with asphalt tape from the factory. the back hole on each side is threaded already. Like BIGG said you can also source the hardware yourself locally... remember the bolts you need have the washer made under the head, a bolt without the washers won't work.

Ok the gentleman I bought the steps from found the mounting hardware and was kind enough to ship it to me! -awesome guy. Anyway I think the bolts are pretty straight forward but I'm not to sure on how the nuts go on to the body pinch seem. I've found a couple sites that have given me info to go on but no actual pictures of these nuts attached. Any advise, pictures, or mockery?

Never mind! all I had to do was LOOK. Easy install and I think it adds a finished look. We'll see how the wife likes it tomorrow...what else can I add that I can work the "but honey its for you" angle -Grab handles maybe.

You might not like the stock step bars if you some harder wheeling. My wife likes the look of the step bars but she does not use them when getting into the Jeep. Maybe when I lift it a bit she will use them. She is 5'10" and steps in just fine. The problem with the step bars (according to my wife) are that they are to high up to serve a purpose.
