I never took mine out the brackets have been left in mine when I switched to the hard top, I got those quick release tabs. However you could bring the original and just go one size larger. You may have to Pre drill the bracket and bar slightly larger but only to the size of a pilot hole. If there is a knowledgeable person in the store they can set you up with proper pilot if needed. Those self tappers are only met for sheet metal so something thick might be a little difficult to make a larger hole.
