Been there done that. Glad to see I'm not the only dummy out there! I wound up taking the arm out of the Jeep and I put the visor in a vise, hole facing up. Best I could tell, the visor had two metal strips going down the top. I just worked the arm back and forth til it went all the way back on. Was thinking about grinding the end of the arm to a point just before I got it on. Good luck!

So -- hypothetically speaking, of course -- how easy is it to pull the visor off? Can this happen accidentally, or would one really need some effort?

Takes some good effort to get it off.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing.

It does take some effort but it is not so hard that you think it wont go back on. It wouldn't be an accident.

I know everyone is probably asking why would you pull it off. I was going to swap sides so I didn't have to remove the stickers on the visors but at the same time I wouldn't have to look at them all the time. I know it's easy to just pull the stickers off but I figured it be as easy as the TJ to swap visors. I was wrong.

I am sooo glad I am not the only fool to do this. I thought I was smart one day and yanked it right off. Then couldn't get the sucker back on .

I took it to the machinst at work, and he ground it down to a point for me and it did go back on, but was kind of loosey goosey..
Somewhere I wrote down the part number for a new visor assembly, and one of these days I'll get it on order with the parts guys. I think the whole thing is only like $15.

I was afraid to push too hard and break it but now after reading the above replies I just decided to push hard. It went back on. Definitely harder to et back on then take off.

I did alot of searching on a few forums and couldn't find anything. I felt a little foolish asking but obviously I am not the only one who likes to REALLY examine things closely.

Seems alot easier to just remember you have airbags and small children should get hit in the face with them. The stickers look so cheezy up or down. When the suns in your eyes you pull them down and half to look at them. If you really want to save them, peel them off and stick 'em to the back of your service manual or inside your glove box, etc.

Wow, I'm glad I read this thread. My son is very tall and when he drives the Jeep he isn't happy with the view out the windshield. I suggested that maybe we could remove the visor when he drove it. Now I'm glad we didn't. Whew! If someone comes up with an easy way to reinstall it I might reconsider taking it off so he can have a better view. Thanks again for the information.

Removing the visor from the post makes it a bear to get back on, but you could also simply remove two screws and the entire assembly just comes off in one piece.
