SuperTech conventional oil?
Looking to change the oil for the first time in my 2013 JKU. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what type of oil (brand) Chrysler puts in a new, stock vehicle? I'm going to stick with the 5W20 conventional as recommended but was wondering what brand of oil you like?
I've used SuperTech from Walmart with my previous vehicle, was a great price and seemed to be quality. I've been researching it more and was told its usually leftover name-brand motor oil put under the SuperTech name. What are thoughts on SuperTech? I've heard good (and bad) about both the cheaper oils and name brands.
I don't want to go synthetic (yet) but was mulling between if it would be better to go to a Synblend down the road? I know its an age-old debate (plus 1,000 individuals threads on the topic), but just wondering if anyone had any quick, lasting impressions about either.

Why put the cheapest oil in your Jeep? I use Mobil 1 which is about $36 for 6 quarts at Walmart. How much is 6 quarts of SuperTech generic conventional? Is it really worth the $10 savings you get with the cheapest oil vs a name brand proven synthetic?
i run mobil 1 and a wix oil filter. my total is usualy about 36.00 for the whole oil change filter and all.
for the cost difference between synth and conventionl synth blend is almost pointless nowdays

Wondering if anyone that uses Mobil 1 is concerned that it is not certified to meet the Chrysler specification. I use Penzoil Ultimate from Walmart. Got 35,500 miles on my 2012. Runs perfect. Never had any problems. I change every 5000 miles. Never any measurable oil loss after each 5000 mile interval.
I have a 2012 and I switched to synthetic for my second oil change at 2,000 miles. My first oil change was at about 500 miles with Valvoline conventional. All subsequent oil changes have been with Mobil 1 at about 4k intervals.

Is that just a hope, or do you have any inside information? I've had my JKU for well over 1.5 yrs and still no Chrysler certification for Mobil 1 oil in the US. I think we can all agree that Mobil 1 is perfectly fine. My only concern is whether Chrysler could deny any claims on my lifetime warranty. For that reason I choose to use an oil brand that does come with the Chrysler cert.
i have 4000 miles on Walmart synthetic oil now. my jeep has 28000 on it. it is a 2011. i have no oil consumption and the oil is still clean. i am running a Napa gold filter. i change my oil every 5000 miles. i ran it this time to see if it is in fact any different than any other oil and in my opinion it is not. i may just continue to run the oil. as a side note i also put it in my wife's Honda accord at the same time. her car is having the same results my jeep is. i looked on the back of the jug and it had all the same ratings as Castrol and Valvoline and Quaker oil so run what ever you want just change it regularly is my opinion. for the record i am a Valvoline guy. there is my non scientific non biased research for the jeep community flame on brand haters
