Default Swapping out ball joints

Yes , I have tried searching.....
Long story short, my dealership, Jeep corprate office and my extended warranty company are all giving me the run around about my shot ball joints and all 3 are saying its on of the other peoples responsability to pay for the repairs. I have had enough...... F$#K IT i'll do it my own damn self!
Has any one done write up on how to change them / how long does it take?
How hard is it to put new ones in? Is there an exact tool list?
What are my options for after market Ball joints besides the OEM shitty ones or the Ones that were just released for $600 (dynatrack I think)?

From what I have read those are really the only 2 options that would be worth doing. This really isn't a take it out and put it in. You have to pull your axle shafts out and take the knuckles off to press them out. If you feel confident in doing that then you should be fine. The only reason I didn't go with dynatracs is the price and they don't know what they are going to charge for a rebuild kit. It would take alot of ball joint changing OEM ones to make up for some of these.

This is not a JK but its the same way you do yours except you have an ABS wire to take off the hub.

So you can't swap out the ball joints while the axel is still under the Jeep?

Without power tools it ain't gunna be easy. My mechanic friend had to pound on the ball joint press with an air wrench to break the old ones free. They were a bitch to get out.

I used all hand tools but ended up using a breaker bar to get them loose. Usually a little tap to the C's with a hammer with a good amount of pressure on them should get them to break them loose.

Go to an auto parts store and rent a ball joint press. I had to get 2 from different auto stores to get the right pieces to press them out. I know they make one for jeeps to purchase but when I checked i think I seen them for around $250.

Hmmm... that doesn't make any sense! If your warranty covers ball joints, and you are within the mileage/years that the warranty is still in effect, the dealer (any dealer) should honor it. If it is a "gray area" and you warranty had expired I could see them giving you the runaround...
I have an extended warranty on my F250 which I bought "after market" but it's still a Ford factory warranty ad the local dealer has been nothing but gracious about replacing mine twice so far...And I even plow with my truck...OI know this doesn't help you but I would pressure the dealer to honor this!

I'm at 39k but I have a documented front end prob at the dealership since before my primary warrenty was up, jeep corparate said they would pay half of the repair cost but that still leaves my half at $500 for 4 ball joints and a SS. I have the extended warrenty until 76k but they say since there was a documented front end shimmy before my 36k was up they say jeep should fix it. the dealership just just ''noticed '' my ball joints were the prob after 5 trips to them , 2 track bars, 2 sets of tires and 3 SS's.
