Swaybar motor melted down
OK so I was driving down the road in 2wd the other day and all of a sudden my swaybar light started flashing. I was a bit puzzled at first then i went to turn a corner and the front end dove real hard and the ass end started to break loose (The roads are covered in snow and ice) Somehow my swaybar came unconnected and will not reconnect.
I got home and decided to see whats going on. After removing the wiring plug it was obvious that the large terminal in the wiring connection had completely melted. Both the plug and the prong are scred. The prong is almost hanging out of the motor due to all the plastic beside it being completely melted.
Does anyone know how I can reattach the swaybar so driving around town doesnt feel like i am in a boat?

I thought that if I rtemoved the plug it would stop sending power to the magnet that holds the plunger... But it didn't.
I am going to take it to Dodge today but I know they wont have a new one on hand so i will have to wait forever and she feels scetchy driving it around

yeah I just spoke to them and first they cant get me in to look at it until wensday next week then they have to order parts.
They don't tell you when you are buying a new vehicle that you have to wait 2-3 weeks to get anything fixed. I thought warranty was a good thing but I find my Jeep sitting at the dealership more than my old pickup ever was.

Then you'd have to drive 400km down the highway just to get them to look at your Jeep.
I'm really hoping that they give you a loaner for the duration. Your Jeep will not be safe to drive at highway speeds until that sway bar is fixed, and for you to be without your vehicle for an extended period of time (which I'm almost certain that you will be) while it's still under warranty is ridiculous.

Can't they just replace the electronic disco unit with a full "regular" sway bar until your parts come in?
Sorry to hear about that. The dealers aren't the fastest here in Northern BC unless its a new vehicle they want you to sign for, then they are speedy gonzales.
One of the reasons I avoided the Rubicon was because of the electric stuff underneath - discos, lockers etc. Great when they work, otherwise...
Does the PG Dealer have the part you need? I'm sure they already tried.

If you don't disconnect the sway bar very often, another option is to replace it with a standard swaybar and get disco-links.
It would be out of pocket instead of warranty, but you'd have piece of mind of it not failing again. And you could probably get a stock sway bar in the for sale section for a song.
