Well the dealer did give me lifetime free Mopar oil changes every 4000 miles so I may just let them do it for a while and hope they don't scratch it.

Should still do the first one at 1000-2000 miles or just wait until it gets 4000?

In an independent test by an F-body enthusiast club doing full oil analysis every 3k on a Camaro V8 using both Mobil 1 and Amsoil they got 12k with Mobil 1 and 15k with Amsoil before the oil no longer passed the analysis

I think that test was done with the 7500 mile oil, not the extended 25000 mile product. If I remeber correctly.

95% of new cars with with synthetic fromt he factory. Chrysler is one of the only ones cheap enough not to. Switch to it whenever you want and don't look back. Synthetic is superior to dino oil in every way (except price in some cases).

I think the 3k or 3 month rule of thumb was great for dino oil. Times have changed.

I'm in a similar boat as to when to switch. I'm usually a Mobil 1 guy. Just bought an '08 Sahara 2-dr HT when the recent deals were flying. Had only 125 miles on the clock when I got it, but the build date was 02/08 so the oil has been in the crank nearly a year. It's still clear, but I may purge it and start the synthetic treatment soon rather than wait 'til I hit 1k miles.

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asm.aspx read it and weep! The ASM 0W20 replaces the 5W20 in the Jeeps.

They heat and cool the building with it somehow , but only ever 4000 miles and I have to pay for the 6th quart and the filter which is a total of 8 bucks.

hate not doing it myself but it will save money and my 55gal drum is about half full .
