Default Tailgate shock project- FINISHED- Go to Write Ups

Ok Guys

I hate it when the tailgate door slams into my leg unexpectedly.

So I have an extra trunk shock from my 1988 BMW Convertible (selling soon)

and I'm going to make it automatically swing open the gate once I press the door handle button and it should stay open with the shock until I close it.

I bought the brackets - shock mounts- nuts- and bolts

I'll let you know how it turns out as the brackets and mounts are being welded together and painted tonite.

Mike

the shock the on the FJ cruiser has a lockout setting so you can keep it open when the car is in off camber situations.

I was going to do that, but I thought about the convience of not having to touch anything.

Just open it and it stays open without having to turn a knob or lock a lever to keep it from closing also the fact that you have to turn a knob or unlock a lever to shut it again.

Its like a hood prop. Its so much easier to just open the hood and have the shocks keep it open.

Hmmm that gave me another idea- haahaa put some shocks up front!! OK I'll do that one later.
