Default Taking off my 09 JK Freedom Top ... what am I missing?

So I was washing the new Jeep last night (owned it two weeks or so) and I noticed that my driver's side panel was sitting about 1/8 an inch higher than the passenger side panel on that center joint where both panels meet with the back piece.

I had heard a bit of whistling that was annoying me while driving, so I figured I'd just try to reseat the thing and get it even (it's not quite warm enough to just pull the top off yet).

I undid the clamp on the front of the driver's side panel, turned the L brackets on the front right, back right, and back left. But when I lifted up on the panel it seemed like that back right side was still hung. I could get the front pushed up enough to see daylight through it ... the pin on the front left would come out of the hole and stay out.

For whatever reason the back left wasn't letting loose though. As opposed to trying to push too hard and break or chip something however, I just backed off and clamped it down.

Figured someone here might have some insight for me and save me some embarrassment.

Anyone care to offer this dummy some advice?

There is a big screw above your right shoulder that you need to unscrew. (there are two actually one for each side)

Is it up under the speaker bar?

That would probably explain it if so.

yeah two REALLY big screws if you want to call them that...you can do them by hand, they are in the speaker bar YES

I guess you havent looked at your owners manual yet, you can download a pdf copy of it for free from jeep and you can do searches on it then.

Great, I'll take a look at them when I head out for lunch today.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't looked at the owner's manual yet (was in a bit of a rush trying to get back in to give the youngest kid her bath).

One other question, what does the spacer block in there do for me?

Make sure that you extend the spacers when using the front freedom top without the back piece. If you do not use the spacers, you will drive the screws through th top.

You might also be careful about the rubber pieces on the front latches . Mine spit off all the time until I finally glued them. My idiot dealer told me they were not available separately, and that I would have to buy the entire latch @ $75.
