Default Teraflex HD steering kit problems.

I have an 07 4 door Rubicon. I needed tie rod ends and since I plan to lift it i decided to get the Teraflex HD steering kit. I am running into two problems, 1) After the install the rod ends rub on the inside of the stock rims at the limit of the steering travel. 2) I cant get the drag arm to adjust small enough to center the wheel. the measurement I got from my old drag link was 40.5 inches, and I needed somewhat less than that to center everything up. The old drag link had plenty left to adjust down, but the new one will not go any smaller.

I would call Teraflex customer service, i'm sure they'll have some answers for you. I do find it odd that it makes contact with the factory wheel. I have the Teraflex tie rod with stock wheels (17") although I do have wheel spacers. I even have the stock 16" wheels that came on my JK and those clear also...again with the spacers so maybe thats what saved me. Can't help on the drag link, I have a Synergy and didn't run into that problem.

That's typically the issue- the beefy tie rods need the wheel pushed out further. Wheel spacers or a larger diameter wheel is the way to go. Typically people do wheel spacers because it fits with the goal of larger tires with the tie rod upgrade.

Me plan was to go with wheel spacers I did actually call teraflex regarding the issue, still working through that. Would you happen to recall what your drag link measurement was?

DL length is one of those things that will vary from jeep to jeep due to any actual net lift achieved from various suspension components, mods, and general vehicle weight.

It sounds like you bought this DL as you plan to lift the jeep, which is not currently lifted. You cannot adjust the DL short enough to accommodate the factory suspension. Was there something wrong with the factory DL which prompted the purchase a bit early? When you get around to lifting the jeep, this DL should work just fine for you, but in the meantime it's going to be an issue. Can you simply reinstall the factory for a short while longer?

Exactly correct, and as I am working through the issue I am didn't making progress. Yes my plan was to go back to the stock DL. I'm on the progress of doing a lot of work to the front end right now and each piece is making the whole much better. Lots of work but wrenching is theraputic for me so it is an adventure

It can be frustrating learning things in this manner, but it is a good way to learn, and these lessons really tend to stick with you. On the bright side, you will eventually get some use out of that new DL, so this is just a speed bump in the road.
