Default Thermostat replacement $$$

Hi Everyone. I have a '13 JK with 103K miles and I am proactively replacing componets and decided to replace the thermostat. I am not having any cooling problems but it has been in there for 70K miles and I want to get ahead of a failure. I always use stock Mopar parts BUT the oem t-stat is $150.00 or more and I can find aftermarket units for as low as $20.00 on eBay. My question is does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced reliable replacement thermostat? Thanks

I see em online for a lot less than $150 -

Still a decent chunk for that. I wouldn't lose sleep over using a Dorman unit, but that's just me. An easy part to change if had to.

Here is the Mopar Thermostat housing and in the catalogue I used for a 2013 JUK it showed to include the thermostat, Housing, seal:
5184651AH HOUSING, THERMOSTAT Chrysler List Price:$73.20

Lots of reports of aftermarket thermostats restricting flow and causing issues, stick with oem on this one.

Agree with Jeff. There are just some parts where going with OEM pays off in the long run. I include starters and alternators in that category.

Default Thank You

Thank you everyone for your input. I was using the wrong Mopar # I will order the correct # 5184651AH. I feel better with the factory OEM parts and 50+ dollars is within reason.

I did a main post on my experience. But I’ll add my 2¢ here.

I put in an aftermarket thermostat because the Mopar was out of stock everywhere. It failed catastrophically and now I’m needling to do coolant pressure testing and leak down tests to check for blown gaskets and other engine damage.

Getting an aftermarket to save a few buck isn’t worth risking thousands in engine damage. I’d get the Mopar part.
