Default Tie Rod Ends - Hex Hole on Threaded Shaft

I am replacing the OEM Tie Rods.

I noticed that there is a 7mm hex hole in the threaded Shaft.

Anyone know what this is for?

On mine, it's to hold the threaded, tapered shaft while the self-locking nut is turned.

Yep. You will need to hold the shaft in place with a hex wrench to get the end tightened enough to stop the shaft from turning. Then you can use a torque wrench to finish tightening to spec. Otherwise the shaft will just turn and it won't tighten all the way.
