Default Tie Rod (stock) end boot/dust cover split

I was prepping my 08 JKU (torque/grease) for a big desert trip in 5 days when I noticed the boot split on the knuckle end. There is no noticeable play with the tie rod and I don't have any death wobble issues at this point.

With having to work before the trip, I'm not sure I'll have time to get to it or get parts in time.

Can anyone tell me if I absolutely need to fix this now?

As long as the joint is still good you can snag new boots at most part stores.

I know this is an old thread but what did you decide to do? I'm in the same boat and debating upgrading tie rods with a beefier unit

No signs of the "death wobble" yet so I will ride it out and upgrade when needed. Joint is still good for now.

Just noticed this last night. No issues at all but figured while I was down there and had this apart that some preventative maintenance wouldn't hurt so just going to replace the end
