Have JKs always used an algorithm? I change mine every 5k so the light is just an annoyance but it seems like it comes on beyond 7k miles every time. It has actually only come on three times in 23k miles so far and one was right after I bought it(used).

If I remember correctly, the first JKs (very early 07s) did not have the OCI.

Later 07s do have it but some (07-08s??) had a bug and should have been reflashed under a TSB, if necessary.

But yes, in JKs with the OCI, the OCI is and always was, an algortithm.

I know it is a bit overkill, but I'm a 3 month 3K guy. Triple digit in the summer and negatives in the winter where I live.

It's not overkill. Oil is much cheaper than a motor. I change at 3k as well

How do I get my dash to stop flashing "Oil Change"? I changed my oil 5k after i purchased it used from the dealer when it first flashed, but it's been on for a month now. I've been checking it at least once a month, and it hasn't burned any oil.

I would just like it to stop beeping and flashing me everytime i start it up.

Any hints?

To reset it there is a sequential code you have to follow. In my 08 it is to turn the ignition on (don't start), fully depress gas pedal three times and then switch the ignition back off...

It seems the algorithm works.
The oil change indicator started yesterday, which is a little over 3 months since I bought it and after being driven 3576 miles.
