tinting soft top?
Just finished tinting my soft top windows with the glass film and it came out better than i expected.
With a helping hand the rear window came out the best I think.
Another member LaRose I believe was doing the same thing. His looked very well done and I decided to go for it.
Give it a shot, removal instructions are on the installation instructions, what could go wrong???
Overall cost for all soft windows $36

Got the film at auto zone. It is the gila brand and was two rolls for twenty dollars. I did the rear and sides with twenty percent and hope to get the front upper halves this week. Those will be thirty five percent so I can still see at night.
To do all five panels took three rolls. Of course there was a lot of scrap that was no longer of any use.

It's not going to last and I'm sure you'll have a ton of bubbles. I would suggest buying the tinted windows and selling your clears.
Sorry that sounds very negative... It's worth a try and certainly not a huge investment.

Spending the three hundred dollars will come later when it is worth it.
As far as tips, I used the recommended install kit and found I got better results when I had help to stretch the film over the window. Otherwise it likes to try and stick to itself.
Use a boat load of solution, this helps with bubbles. After it is stretched and ready hold the film over the window releasing evenly and slowly. The liquid creates a vacuum that sucks the film to the surface. Sit them in the sun to cure for a few hours and try to keep them in the sun for a couple days.
Probably will end up looking pretty rough by the time I'm looking to replace it, but for all the cash I saved it will be easier to afford
Didn't want to start a new thread but had a question about tinted soft top windows. Does anyone know the exact tint percentage on the oem soft top windows? I just got some for Christmas and I want to tint my front windows to match but I'm not sure of the percentage. The place I called said they can't test it with the meter because they're not glass
Also, any tips on keeping them scratch-free? Anything I can rub on them to keep the shiny and scratch-free?
Thanks for any input!
