I've got a set of 35" Duratracs on my JK. They are probably not quite as good as Blizzaks on ice, but will work quite well on icy roads. I'm certain that they will blow the blizzaks away in deep snow. I would be very surprised of the silent armors would compare with the Duratracs on either ice or snow.

As far as off-road in the summer months, if you're not much of a mud guy then the Duratracs will do everything that you need.

just got our jeep 2 weeks ago. We are running the stock tires, and so far they are doing fine.

my duratrac's i have run for over a year now and going into 2nd winter they are 285/75R16 just shy of 33". they are a softer rubber and are about 70-75% and i will replace with the same.

any questions PM me

P.S. we have about 6" of snow dump on us today
Thanks for the comparison, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for.
I gather from your post you like the Duratracs in the snow/ice better?

And they're Goodyear SR/A's?

Sounds like you don't have snow and ice experience with either of the tires listed, much less a comparison between the two like I asked for.

I'm curious why you're so certain they'd blow away the Blizzaks on deep snow?
Still kinda confused why a mud-tire does work in deep snow, and why a winter tire wouldn't as much. But that seems to conform to the general knowledge of everyone, just never really understood why. My gut feel tells me the Blizzaks should still cut through snow super good, as has my experience with them, since I ran Blizzaks on the Tacoma for years. If the Duratracs really are better in deep snow than the Blizzaks, that'll be quite impressive.

Go to Youtube and watch the Duratrac video. They explain the little traction teeth in between the lugs that help with grip in deeper snow. Running 275/65R18 Duratracs on stock Sahara rims. Good enough to drive around here in Northern BC with confidence and mostly in 2wd unless I hit serious ice. I won't bother trying another tire and I run these year round.

Duratrac's have great reviews in snow from what I've read.

And it's odd you don't like the BFG's in snow, every one of my friends that plow swear bye them.

I really like the BF Goodrich KM tires I have on my Jeep. They are great in the snow and perform pretty well on ice also. I believe that Tire Rack and Discount Tire both have rating systems on their sites. You could always have tires sipped to increase performance on ice.

Duratracs for sure. In running them in 325/65/18 and I was expecting worse traction then I've ever gotten before due to width. I was pleasantly surprised yeaterday.

Where I live ice grip is incredibly important as we get wind speeds up to double what towns 30 miles away get. This causes serious snow blow which glazes our highways as people drive over the thin layers of snow.

Duratracs have done great so far.
