Default Tire Size

Hey. I can't afford to change my 16" rims to 17" but I want new tires.

The tires I want are Pro Comp Xtreme M/Ts 285/75/16 (33")

Will those fit on the stock X steel rims?

Thx

If it makes any difference to you, those "cheap" steel rims if damaged off road can usually be rebent/pounded out enough to refill with air and drive home.

Try that with BA Alloy rims!

of course I'm driving 18" wheels making very sure I keep my spare with me.

33's should fit with out any lift. Only very minor rubbing if any at all.

Yeah, it costs money to be kewl.

Almost better to plan ahead, buy a set for the street and a set for the dirt. Come to think of it, add another set for rock tires too!

Off road smaller wheels larger fat tires, better ride, better "air down" control, better grip. On the street it sucks, squishy when soft but larger foot print on the pavement, vehicle apt to get crazy on hard braking, when they are aired up then there is a very small footprint on the pavement and while they are not swuishy they will slide forever even on dry pavement. I prefer stocker type tires on the street and they are useable for most off pavement stuff anyhow.

Save the big buck tires and cheap steel wheels for the good offroad stuff.

Default 2008 JK Unlimited 305/70/16's

I have an '08 Unlimited with a set of Craggar 397 soft 8's wheels size 16X8 with 5" backspacing and a set of Pro Comp X-Terrains size 305/70R16(IE: 33/12.50's). I haven't lifted it yet. But, the tires do not rub. Even at full stuff. I haven't tried with the sway bar disconnected yet. It looks like I could have gone with the 315's with minimal rub at full stuff.
