I was thinking about upgrading my stock SRA's with tires that are more off-road friendly and honestly the stock 255/75 17's are big enough for my needs. Is it just me or is that a rare size? It seems like you only have a few choices in that exact tire size. What stock size replacements have some of you gotten and how have they treated you?

 

BFG AT's are a good stock replacement. I have used them for years on many different Jeep's / Trucks. Long tread life, good traction on and off road.

 

For a close fit. Go with 265/70R17. It is about .3" smaller in diameter, but it is .7" wider.

My dad has 265/70R17 BFG AT on his rubicon and just that tiny bit more width makes the jeep look much much better.
(31.7x10.7R17)

For a jump in size, which I am doing - go with 285/70R17 (33x11.5R17). It would be bigger and wider, and might hurt your MPG a bit, but not much. I am getting this size with Goodyear Duratracs.

Both are all terrain tires that are excellent all around for a weekend wheeler.

 

I also agree with ECHO's comments, the MT is good and you can get them pretty cheap. Just keep in mind they do not wear as good at the AT. Just really depends on what you are looking for.
