Default tool for shifter bezel

I have been to all the parts stores in town and nobody has the tool or knows what it is. I am wanting to take the bezel(below boot) off from around the bottom of the shifter and paint it. Does anybody know what that tool is or where I can find one? I think that would look as good as the billet ones and a cheaper mod.

The bezel is all plastic. The "rivets" holding the top and bottom piece (sandwiching the rubber) are pretty much designed to break when separated. You have to drill out the plastic "rivets" in order to get them out. Then you have to screw the plastic bezel back on. Mine broke, so I bought the billet piece.

Ok I just checked. The black plastic bezel is held in place by two spring clips in the back (end closer to ccenter console) and two plastic tabs in the front (dash end) pull up on the back part and you can see the clips... just pull up with steady pressure and it pops right off. Once the back part is off the front slides right out. It looks like the shifter boot is glued to the bezel... so that will have to come off with it. Also the shifter knob is a press fit. Just pull up and it comes off. Just dont punch yourself in the chest like I did when it finally let go... I had a bruise for a week

nope, Im pretty sure they are fake.. of course you could do what army cop said and drill them out. Of course you can always get some 10-32 security head torx bottun head cap screws and some nuts. You could paint them black or just use stainless.... Even just the stainless screws might look good without painting the bezel...hmmmm

Mine looked good for a day, but then it cracked. The billet one looks good.
