Default Torque Specifications

I am about to do some all around maintiance to my Jeep, and I often see people say to check that "x component is tightened to y ft/lbs". Where is this information coming from?

I'd love to have a definitive list of this torque specifications in front of me, so that when I go over the Jeep I can check the whole front end. Are these coming from a Chilton's manual or something?
