All I know is some of these dealers really crank them on. Last week I literally could not get the plug off my g/f's Liberty. I was torqueing on it and could see the pan flexing slightly, so I stopped and just had her take it in for them to change, try again next time. They really seem to like screwing the hell out of the oil filter too.

Like most of you, I make it tight, and one more little crank for good measure.
