Default Touch-up paint?

Went to the dealership today to pick up my Jeep for some warranty work. I figured on the way out I'd buy some touch up paint for the pitting around the windshield frame.

They told me it'd take about 10 minutes while the body shop guys mixed some up . When i had my explorer, they were already pre-made in little nailpolish containers. Does Jeep actually mix them up, or was I getting the run-around?!

I bought mine on ebay from a dealership with a buy it now option and it came in a premade container and its made by mopar. They even sent a cool mopar keychain with it Maybe its cheaper for them to mix it up? I paid like $12 with shipping.

Every dealer I go to around here has racks of the touch up paint out. Mix some up? I think somebody's yankin' your chain...

Unless you asked specificly for a spray can version of the paint and they were going to mix it up and charge the can.... The little 'nail polish' sized bottles come pre-mixed and are a stock part number - any dealership should have at least the current colors in stock. I'm wondering if you didn't run into a parts counter newbie and thought you were looking for a pint of paint or something...

I'd be looking for a different dealership - or get the part number from someone and go ask for that particular part number.

Eh, he didn't look like a newb. But it was the end of the day (4:50), so it was probably the "How dare you come and bother me an hour before close?!".

I'll wait a few weeks.

my dealership didn't have any so I went to another one and they were also without it.

I just got the paint serial number and they ordered it. Came in within a day, it was the mini nail polish esque container. It cost me about $9 bucks roughly.

My dealer was able to order it in for the small pen/brush container. Also gave me the code for a local retailer to make up a spray bomb (haven't used it yet though).

Sounds like your dealer is either cheap and mixes its own or is taking you for a ride. Hope I'm wrong on both counts, though.

Cheers.
