I'm not smart enough to tell you the why (beyond saying something weak like "efficiency"), but I'm pretty certain that it's more complicated than taller gears to get better gas mileage. In fact, I suspect that my Jeep, with 4.10s and 33s, gets better gas mileage at highway speeds in 5th gear, though I prefer to run it in 6th.

all i know is, my "tow package" got recalled. I'm having them swap it out on my next scheduled visit. i'll be in the waiting room for 3 hours. last time i was there for my oil change i fell asleep on their couch watching ESPN..they make you feel right at home at my dealership, surprisingly.

you sure that's not the "tow bar" recall? the recall i got was for the front tow bar (for pulling behind an RV). i thought hitch at first, but after reading it again figured out it wasn't. plus, they mention way too many parts for it to be the hitch

What recall is that? I know of a tow bar recall, but that's if you tow your Jeep behind another vehicle, not for the Jeep towing anything.

Does this mean that it is a computer program change and not a hardware chnage? My dealer is trying to get a part # for a sway bar replacement.

Apologies for taking so long to respond. Yes, TSC is a computer-controlled fuction - not a physical part. The following is from jeep.com:

Trailer Sway Control (TSC) works with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Antilock Brake System (ABS), alternating brake pressure to automatically correct oscillation in the vehicle trailer system. The ESP function lamp will flash when TSC is activated.

TSC benefits:

* Reduces trailer sway
* Improves handling in adverse towing conditions caused by crosswinds and traffic
* Does not require any driver input
* Automatically activates when needed
Have you had any luck with your dealership? Did they figure this out (that you need a program added to your ECU), or are they still trying to get you a different sway bar?

I agree with the mopar wire harness, it dosent have a Ground and it has fastners to attached it in holes for a clean look. I think it is worth the extra 20 bucks on the Mopar then Quadratec
